A drawing of AV

andro-venus, aka AV, goes by they/them, and lives in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. They're really obsessed with Sonic, DC comics, the history of the Hays Code, books by Sayaka Murata, and the YouTube channel HivemindTV. They look kind of like this most of the time.

AV really likes sharing their life on the internet. Unfortunately, traditional social media is a corrupt space, ruled by algorithms that feed on feelings and human nature in a deviant manner. It is designed to bring people closer and somehow also push people further apart by removing the personal nature of discovery and communication. AV created their website in order to share their life in a way that creates intention. Their website is not a place designed to be scrolled past after a quick glance, but a full insight into their online self that can be constantly explored, and only visited by those who truly wish to interact instead of being shown the content when the algorithmic gods deem it worthy.

The Website

AV's website will have six pages to visit. In the meantime, because life is busy and coding takes a long time, there are two to visit:

Writing: AV's long-form blog posts, essays, and general rants on things they are passionate enough about to write about and share with the world.

Music Log: AV's collection of playlists, ranging from their favourite songs of all time, to the songs they have discovered in the world and wish to share their love for.

Coming soon:

Media Log: A place for AV to discuss and log visual media, aka films and TV shows. (For now, you can visit their Letterboxd for movie stuff.)

Book Log: A place for AV to discuss and log books and comics.

Creations: AV's portfolio of artistic creations, like zines, sewing projects and photos.

Infinite: ???

Things that AV likes

Zines

AV stocks their zines at Sticky Institute in Naarm, but eventually they will be accessible to read on this site. Zines are the ultimate art form, an accessible material for any beginner artist or writer to utilise. It is a way for anyone and everyone to convey their thoughts and feelings about the world and share them.

Sewing and Crafts

There’s too much fabric on earth. Fabric that sits in landfill or gathers dust on racks, because we make too many clothes and they don’t last. AV refuses to let any material go to waste. If any of their clothing breaks; they sew it back to normal. If they can’t, it becomes fabric that gets turned into something new. Clothing repair is never boring! AV enjoys the Japanese rimeiku style and sashiko embroidery method, where mistakes in clothing can tell a story and be the starting point of something new and beautiful. Like the zines, AV will eventually stop being lazy and showcase their creations on this site.

Drag

Although it's a new obsession, it has become a strong one. No, AV has never seen an episode of drag race, because that's not the point of drag! It isn't about competition and division, it's about celebrating gender expression and beauty in a way that brings communities together. You'll spot them every so often cheering at drag shows until their throat starts to get sore.
